Zeeuws-Vlaanderen really is different. Its unique location between the Western Scheldt and Flanders plays a major role in this respect. The born and bred inhabitant of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is an adventurer, a bit cynical with a wink, a bit Flemish, exuberant and likes a congenial ambiance.
Of course, Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is part of the Netherlands, but the problems of the big cities are not as prevalent here. There are no traffic jams, there is little crime and people take care of each other. It makes you a different person... a person from Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
Zeeuws-Vlaanderen has three municipalities, each with its own dynamics and identity.
Municipality of Hulst
IN HULST WE CELEBRATE LIFE!
Living and working in Hulst is like a celebration. Simply because life is celebrated in East-Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. There's plenty of ambiance! We live on the border and do a lot at the border. The Flemish influence is not only noticeable in the exuberant way of living in Hulst, but also in the mentality of the people of Hulst. We often look at life with a wink and are self-willed. The Western Scheldt separates us from the rest of the Netherlands and when we turn around, we see Flanders within a stone’s throw. Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is focused on Flanders, but at the same time it is part of the province of Zeeland. That is its strength.
Hulst, situated some thirty kilometres from Antwerp, has various living options: living in Hulst, with its lively town centre, or living in one of the rural villages, or completely in the open in the polder. There is a variety of both private and tenement houses. In Hulst, you will get more enjoyment of residence from your mortgage or rent, because the prices will positively surprise you. The benefits of this surprise can be used for the nice extras in life!
There is always something to do in Hulst; for both young and old. There are events on a regular basis, such as Vestingcross, Vestrock, Culitruck, etc. Also, there are cosy shops and great restaurants. Who doesn't like that?

Municipality of Terneuzen
Active, ambitious, and versatile. The workhorse of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. Terneuzen is the largest municipality in the province of Zeeland. It is a dynamic municipality where working, living and recreation all fit together seamlessly. Surprising new development projects, cultural events, many amenities and modern business locations prove that it is a versatile municipality. Terneuzen is the beating economic heart of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, a dynamic port town on the Western Scheldt where economic activity will continue to expand in the years ahead.
Terneuzen covers 251 km² with 54,440 inhabitants on 1 January 2019, divided into fourteen districts.

Municipality of Sluis
A special place, where you can live, work and relax perfectly. The municipality of Sluis is located in the far end of the south-west of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen. The area is very diverse: cosy, authentic centres, wide sandy beaches along twelve kilometres of North Sea coast, natural dunes, a wide, varied polder landscape and a wide range of events and places of interest. Sluis has it all!
Sluis covers 380 km² with 23,372 inhabitants on 1 January 2019, divided into seventeen districts.
